MomMatch: Local Matching for Single Moms

Finding other single moms who are in a genuinely similar situation, same neighborhood, kids around the same age, compatible schedules and values, is harder than it sounds. Broad social apps surface connections by mutual friends or engagement, not by parenting circumstance. MomMatch is Mamentum's answer to this gap: a local matching system that pairs single moms based on factors that actually predict compatibility.

What is MomMatch?

MomMatch is the local matching feature in Mamentum, the community app for single mothers. It uses zip code, children's age ranges, and lifestyle compatibility to pair a single mom with other local single moms who are likely to connect well. The result is a suggested one-on-one match, not a general social feed.

After a match is accepted by both sides, the two moms can message privately through Mamentum's encrypted chat.

How does MomMatch work?

MomMatch uses three matching signals:

  1. Location — matches are filtered by zip code and geographic proximity. Moms within a usable driving distance are prioritized.
  2. Children's ages — moms with children in similar age ranges are more likely to share daily rhythms, school schedules, and activity interests.
  3. Lifestyle compatibility — during onboarding, users complete a brief match preferences setup covering parenting style, social preferences, and availability.

Matches are surfaced as suggested connections. Each party must accept before a conversation opens. This mutual-acceptance structure prevents one-sided contact and keeps the experience intentional rather than feed-like.

Is MomMatch like a dating app?

No. MomMatch is a friendship and community matching tool, not a romantic matching tool. It is designed to help single moms find local support: someone to trade childcare with, to meet for a kid-friendly outing, or to talk to who genuinely understands the experience.

Mamentum has a separate section for moms who want to discuss dating as single mothers (it is one of the 30+ Support Circle topics), but MomMatch itself is peer connection, not romantic connection.

Bumble BFF and general friendship apps connect adults by interests. MomMatch connects single moms by circumstance, which is a meaningfully different matching problem. A single mom with a 6-year-old and a 10-year-old has different daily needs from a new mom. MomMatch accounts for where you actually are in the parenting journey.

What happens after a MomMatch?

After both moms accept a match:

  1. An encrypted direct message thread opens between them
  2. Either mom can initiate a conversation
  3. The conversation is private, not visible to other Mamentum users
  4. Moms can exchange contact information, plan a meetup, or support each other through the app's messaging

The app's Events feature surfaces local kid-friendly meetups that matched moms can attend together.

Is MomMatch available in my area?

MomMatch is available in the iOS app throughout the United States. Match density depends on how many Mamentum members are in a given area. During the current beta phase, the user base is concentrated among early adopters. Match availability will increase as public launch reaches more cities.

If no immediate matches are available in your zip code, the onboarding flow still surfaces Support Circles, local events, and the morning briefing, which provide community value independent of MomMatch density.

Does MomMatch require sharing my location?

MomMatch uses your zip code, not your precise GPS location. During onboarding, users enter their zip code as part of the match preferences setup. Precise location access (GPS) is only requested when location-relevant features are used, such as finding events near you, and is never shared with other users.

Other Mamentum users see only your general area, not your address or real-time location.
